Canadian Tire Jumpstart
A little help can make that first class possible. Jumpstart helps children from eligible low-income families take part in sport, with grants of up to $300 per child per year for eligible registration and equipment costs.
Up to $300
per child, per year · subject to approval
Who can apply?
- Parents or guardians of children aged 4–18 who meet Jumpstart’s financial eligibility requirements.
- Programs generally need to run for at least five weeks, with at least one session each week. Sports camps need at least five consecutive days.
- Funding and individual grants vary by local chapter. Check availability through the application portal.
How to get started
- Check the official eligibility rules and local availability before making plans around a grant.
- Once Sharktank’s program dates, fees and payee status are confirmed, request the program information for your application.
- Apply as a parent or guardian with proof of financial need and the program name, dates, cost and payee details.
- Wait for approval and confirm a place with the program. An application does not reserve a spot. Approved funding is paid to the approved service organization.
Apply before the program starts where possible. Completed programs are not eligible for review. Jumpstart advises allowing 6–8 weeks after approval for payment processing.
Disability and participation funding
Some participants have approved funding for community participation or additional support. Ask your funding agency about the specific program and expense before booking; a diagnosis alone does not establish coverage.
Passport · Adults
Ontario’s Passport program supports eligible adults with developmental disabilities. Families submit invoices and receipts for admissible expenses within their funding allocation. Ask your Passport agency whether the proposed BJJ program qualifies.
Special Services at Home · Children
SSAH supports eligible children with developmental and/or physical disabilities. Certain participation supports and skill-development programs may qualify. Confirm the class or support expense with the program before relying on reimbursement.
Ontario Autism Program · Check your funding stream
Childhood budgets and interim one-time funding rules include certain community recreational activities. Core clinical funding follows different rules and covers specified clinical services. Ordinary BJJ classes should not be assumed eligible for core clinical funding, and Sharktank is not claiming OAP provider approval.
